Llano Area Guide
Everything you need to know about visiting the Llano area — from the best BBQ to the best gravel roads. Downtown Llano is about 17 minutes (9.4 miles) from Uplift Landing, and once you’re on the square, most places are walkable. Pick a topic below for the full rundown.
🍽️ Dining in Llano
Llano calls itself the BBQ Capital of the World, but the town square serves up a lot more — Italian, Mexican, burgers, homemade pies, and a bakery worth planning your morning around.
🍻 Bars, Live Music & Dancehalls
Cold beer, live country music, and proper dance floors. From the honky-tonk at Sundown (home of Chicken Sh*t Bingo) to craft cocktails on the square, the nights here are loud and friendly.
🌊 Outdoor Activities
The Llano River runs right past your campsite — swim, float, fish, or hunt for topaz. Within an hour you’ll find Enchanted Rock, two more state parks, and a bat cave with millions of residents.
🍷 Wineries, Breweries & Distilleries
The Llano Uplift is coming into its own as a wine region. Walk the square for distillery tastings and 50-tap beer bars, then drive the wine trail east to three of the Hill Country’s best vineyards.
🎉 Festivals & Events
A trout release party in February, a world rock-stacking championship in March, and sledding on 35,000 pounds of ice in December — Llano celebrates year-round.
